Zeynep Kartel’s S/S 16 collection was held at the Freemason’s Hall, London, where I was lucky enough to be helping out backstage.  Kartel, originally from Turkey, is now based in Manchester. Her collection was all about female strength and elegance, with a combination of structured silhouettes and intricate lace details. This collection was inspired by the trappings of royalty, hence the regal colour palette of navy blue, bold red and different tones of white. The tailoring of each outfit enhanced the female figure, with cinched in waists, added belts and low cut maxi dresses. Kartel has made the traditional simple box dress sexy and feminine. My favourite piece from her collection is the red and white lace maxi dress. I love the mixture of a bold colour and intricate details of this dress & the pattern also reminds me of Boston in the fall with its swirls of crimson leaves. Overall her collection has given the classic shapes and silhouettes a little something extra and I look forward to what she creates next.
