I arrived in New York to a light dusting of snow, which made this trip even more special and festive. New York is one of my favourite places to visit, especially at Christmas. I arrived late in the evening but luckily I managed to have a quick dinner at Maloney and Porcelli (they do really yummy pretzel breadsticks). The first full day in New York I went to the Neue Galerie (my favourite gallery in New York) which contains work from artists such as Gustav Klimt, Egon Schiele and many more. The Neue Galerie also has a lovely café called Café Sabarsky which has delicious traditional Austrian and German cuisine. I then went on to walk down Madison Avenue and do some shopping! For dinner I went to an amazing restaurant ‘Nix’ which is a vegetarian and vegan restaurant in Greenwich Village. Nix dishes are made for sharing and have an exotic choice of cocktails. On the second day I went to SoHo to do some shopping where I also had lunch at Cipriani Downtown. Cipriani is a truly authentic Italian restaurant. Later in the evening I had dinner at Jean Georges which does an amazing dish with chicken and truffles. On my final day I did some shopping at Bergdorf Goodman and Henri Bendels. Henri Bendels is perfect for finding gifts for people especially Christmas ones! I then went up the Freedom Tower which had the most spectacular views. On this trip I didn’t manage to go ice skating, which I have done on previous visits, but these are two places that I think are worth a visit: either the Wollman Rink or the rink at the Rockefeller Centre. At the Rockefeller Centre ice skaters get to enjoy seeing the celebrated Christmas tree. The Wollman Rink is situated in Central Park away from the hustle and bustle of New York but still with an amazing view of the city.

A day at the Daylesford
As you drive up the long road to Daylesford Farm you see a striking building that combines honey hued stone and an airy expanse of glass, framed with Farrow and Ball green. There is a sense of lightness about the place and a serenity that envelops the whole estate. Based in the Cotswolds, it’s known […]

A country escape to the Cotswolds
Honey coloured buildings, lush landscapes and charming villages. Idyllic is definitely the right way to describe the Cotswolds. I spent a couple of days there over the New Year, so I was lucky enough to see the villages still lit up by Christmas decorations. It’s a destination within easy reach of London, just a two-hour […]

Autumn Reading List
Autumn is that time of year when it starts to get a bit chilly, the air is crisp, the days are starting to get shorter and you want to sit inside with a nice cup of tea. These are some of the books that I have read during the last few months, which transport you […]
